China Buffet

Appropriate name for an average buffet. China Buffet is a restaurant we visited at a sleepy plaza in south Rochester. The interior has unique redwood furnishing that shows its age since this location opened in 2018. There were over 65 items including some good hot dishes but the dessert, fruit & sushi sections left more to be desired. It was strange that chopsticks were nowhere to be found except at the cleaning table. Some corners were cut to keep prices down. For adult weekend dinner ($16.99), the seafood variety included crawfish, clams, mussels, salmon, and fried blue crab. The clams were popular with many diners while fish fillet tasted bland and the crab lacked texture. BBQ chicken, spareribs & salt pepper chicken were decently flavourful, and there were other typical dishes ranging from sesame chicken to fried dumplings. Stir fried noodles were also popular. Some dishes were dry with less turnover. Service was relatively prompt, although English didn’t seem to be fluent with another customer asking us what one dish was because they couldn’t understand the server. When we arrived, we were offered the choice of water. We got dinner, family of 5. Not fresh, the pepper chicken was raw, the crayfish was raw and the worst of it all was the bugs we found on our childs food. When we advised an employee, we were told to go take care of the plate with bugs in the food, ourselves in the bus pan across the room. How unprofessional is that. We recieved a reciept, paid full price and left. Don't recommend, you'll end up back home figuring out what's for dinner.

I love that they have food for kids who won't eat Chinese food. They had pizza, French fries, chicken wings and dessert. Not the best Chinese food I've had, but still good. I got to try some new foods that were delicious. A nice assortment. It was clean and the staff was friendly. We will be back

Great Chinese-American buffet! Lots of selection like sushi, Mongolian BBQ and of course, the main buffet complete with shrimp in multiple styles, fried blue crab (Yum!), and much more. Ice cream and desserts, great for the kids.

We haven't been to China Buffet in a while and decided to go again as the food is always good. They didn't disappoint. It's nice to be able to try a variety of different foods. Today's visit included shrimp, clams, pepper chicken, sweet and sour chicken and some beef with peppers. Staff is friendly and kept our drinks filled and cleared away used plates quickly. Place was clean and a nice, casual atmosphere. Will definitely return.
